GIJS WALLIS DE VRIES
Gijs Wallis de Vries (Semarang, Indonesia, 1952) studied architecture and urban design in Delft (Netherlands). He practiced in urban renewal in Rotterdam. In 1990 he obtained his PhD with a dissertation on Piranesi and the idea of the magnificent city. As associate professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Eindhoven he teaches architectural history and theory, and tutors Master's research seminars and design studios. He regularly presents papers on conferences (ACSA, IASTE, EFLA, IGU, OUP, Uniscape, EAAE), has written in various journals (Archis, Forum, Oase, Kunstlicht, De Architect, De Gids) and has published (chapters of) books (by Thousand&One Publishers, SUN, 010 Publishers, Thoth, Heritage Editions, Belin).
